The last week I gave you four articles delivered a short review of the Samsung Galaxy S3 - A summary is missing. Those who have not read last week by the various parts of our test could watch now:

A comprehensive review about the Samsung Galaxy S3 is of course difficult and all features should show beyond the scope and thus make all reviews unreadable. I try again to address the most important points and give my opinion on that - if you want to save you this: The Samsung Galaxy S3 is also quite a few weaknesses to the absolute best smartphone on the market.

Processing and Design

I admit that at the presentation in London, I was not at the first moment of the back of the Samsung Galaxy S3 done. Too slick and prone to fingerprint came back before the one for the incredibly high expectations by rumors of ceramic & Co.. If you test the Samsung Galaxy S3 to solve these doubts rather quickly in pleasure: through the polycarbonate and the round shape (which would be so good with ceramic in mass production have been almost impossible), the Samsung Galaxy S3 a real flatterer. In addition, the back was with me pleasantly resistant to just about everything - scratches were not on. Otherwise, processing is in my opinion very well, only the power button was not rock solid and had a little play.

The design are the ghosts - tastes are just different, but I have to say that because of the Home button more than impressed me. He has become leaner and still offers the best and easiest way to turn a smartphone - I hope that Samsung continues it holds. The curved lateral line is an optical illusion, which Samsung uses effectively to the Samsung Galaxy S3 with its 8.6 millimeters to make it appear even thinner - and it works. Slim and very light at 133 grams, it is also perfect for the rounded shape in the hand. In my opinion much better than the biggest competitor, the HTC One X.

The display

Here you can hear a lot of criticism and a lot of amazing shows before purchasing confused and unsure whether the quality of the display. Reason for this is that in the Samsung Galaxy S3 employs a display with a so-called sAMOLED PenTile matrix which operates with less than about sAMOLEDplus subpixels display Galaxy S2 and also the SLCD HTC One X. Under the microscope, it looks like this (image of Mobiflip.de):

Mind you under the microscope, to the human eye, the subpixels make at such a high resolution in my eyes no difference. The display is absolutely identical to that of the HTC One X, thanks to improved black level and beautiful colors by sAMOLED even better - but that is just my opinion, some do not like the high color contrast of sAMOLED displays. Still, best forget all the worries about the quality of the display - it's the best display what you have seen to date.

The hardware

Here are just a few words: Exynos 4412 Quad-Core SoC with 1.4 GHz per core, plus a highly clocked at 400 MHz GPU Mali400MP2. In terms of performance the Samsung Galaxy S3, yet nobody makes anything. Best-in benchmarks are commonplace.

That Samsung uses the Mali400 GPU which was also used in the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 again, has again Advantages: no driver incompatibility and all games run smoothly absolutely. Currently, the most powerful GPU (graphics processor) in a smartphone.

The battery

2,100 mAh to 8.6 millimeters are still unique - Samsung has built a strong power package here, which everyone should be sure to bring about the day. If you gamble, of course 7 hours a piece complex 3D games, the battery even earlier in the knee. For me (as Galaxy Note users) the term was absolutely fascinating to see how this will come some "objective" tester to less than 7 hours is beyond me:

Software

So far all was well, now it is outstanding: in software, Samsung at the Samsung Galaxy S3 everything right. It sounds slightly mad now, but you have, in my eyes, "borrowed" the best features of a number of smartphones, and packed into a smartphone. "Siri" is from the iPhone 4s with "S-Voice" as well as on board the burst camera of the HTC One X. There are also features like "Stay Smart" which detects whether one looks at the display and it will not shut down. Sounds good, but only works in good light. Better there was "pop-play" which allows a PiP (Picture in Picture) on your smartphone: watch movies and surf at the same time is smoothly only because of the performance of the quad-core processor available, and - when it is time ... needs - more than impressive .

The individual features are great but behind another software innovation: the user interface. Samsung has with the Nature UX finally created a surface that, in contrast to the ICS surface of the Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 is not reflected any Android 4.0-feeling with TouchWiz, but you managed to get Android 4.0 with some animations and icons more beautiful to . make "Eyecandy" captures it well: everything is fluid and fast, and already on the lockscreen is fun more!

The performance

I had already said above: quad-core and powerful graphics unit - the Samsung Galaxy S3 is a stylish powerhouse. In daily use, the device is completely liquid (previously the smoothest Android device, which I was allowed to test - and they were few), and affords no weakness. The Nature UX smoothly despite nice animations and it goes into the browser, there is also nothing to complain about (Check out the video to look at under 5). Correct performance are naturally hungry applications like games and benchmarks:

Here you will probably thanks to the hardware currently on the list of the most powerful smartphones, and so there are at most elaborate games stuttering. Although the benchmarks are not very meaningful, but here it is usually ahead of the competition. Fair to point out, however, on Qualcomm S4 chip that achieves many of the same or even slightly better values.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is nothing more or less than the current best smartphone on the market, an HTC One X is not a bad device, but can already compete with the permanently installed battery and the lack of microSD slot not quite. Therefore it has to put up with a personal gripe: the camera stands out Feels 2 millimeters and is very scratch-risk. Its superiority does the Samsung Galaxy S3 in software: TouchWiz UX 5 or just the Nature are beautiful to look, finally a little "eye candy" for Android and the many (sometimes unnecessarily Hidden) Special functions currently hard to beat. Sure, criticism must be and Samsung have in the selection of the polycarbonate material for the back certainly can use wertigeres (HTC uses matt polycarbonate), but even this has its advantages in robustness.

Doubt the display can be forgettable and the migration of devices like the Galaxy Nexus or Samsung Galaxy S2 is quite reasonable, even with the Galaxy Note, I'm currently not sure if I decide to not change trains on a Samsung Galaxy S3 - so much has me the device enthusiastically. Here's a video with some tips and tricks for the Samsung Galaxy S3, so it really is all the subtleties, should you watch all four videos (and reward us with a subscription on YouTube and Like on Facebook)
